Go No Stop, 2011, oil on canvas, 78" x 144''
Go No Stop, 2011
One of the crossings on the way to my studio has a traffic light in which the action is too short to traverse the intersection normally. Every time, I think I will manage to cross without the light turning red in the middle of my course. Every time, it annoys me that I am forced to obey that signal, and every time, it turns red before I finish: so I run.
This series comes from that moment. It is the rhythm between indecision and sudden impulse to cross.
The circles of the lights become the notation to record the in-between steps.
In the presented work the structure of the traffic light is fate, and doubt is the thought.
